Explora Journeys expands luxury cruise fleet with new vessels

The luxury cruise sector is seeing significant developments as Explora Journeys, an ultra-luxury brand under the MSC Group, expands its fleet. The company has confirmed a program for six new eco-friendly ships, with Explora III recently entering service. Future vessels, including Explora IV and V, are scheduled for delivery in 2027 and 2028, with construction being handled by Fincantieri.

Explora III features design enhancements over its predecessors, including a larger footprint that is approximately 20 meters longer than previous models. Despite the increased size, the ship maintains high space-to-guest ratios, offering 461 oceanfront suites and expanded wellness areas. The vessel includes a redesigned double-height lobby with a central circular bar and increased public space per passenger.

In competition, Regent Seven Seas, part of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd., remains a major player in the high-end market. While the Seven Seas Explorer is currently recognized for its luxury, the brand expects the Seven Seas Prestige to be delivered by the end of 2026.
