Explora Journeys expands luxury fleet with delivery of Explora III
Explora Journeys, the luxury ocean travel brand of the MSC Group, is expanding its fleet through a partnership with Fincantieri. The delivery of Explora III in Genoa marks a significant milestone, with three of the six planned vessels now operational. The remaining three ships, Explora IV and Explora V, are scheduled to enter service in 2027 and 2028.
Explora III is the first in its series to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), offering the capability to use renewable fuels such as bio-LNG and synthetic LNG. The fleet construction represents an investment of over 3.5 billion euros, which is estimated to have an economic impact exceeding 15 billion euros in Italy.
In related maritime activity, the Explora I vessel recently completed a 14-day Mediterranean itinerary, visiting destinations including Italy, France, Spain, Tunisia, and Malta. The Explora I, built by Fincantieri, features 461 suites and is designed for the ultra-luxury market.
