Explora Journeys launches LNG-powered Explora III cruise ship

Explora Journeys, a luxury cruise brand under MSC, has introduced its third vessel, the Explora III, which recently made its inaugural stop in Lisbon. The Explora III is the first ship in the company’s fleet to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), with the capability to transition to bio-LNG and synthetic LNG as they become available. The vessel is designed to connect to land-based electrical grids to reduce emissions while in port.

As the largest ship in the fleet, the Explora III features 461 ocean-view suites, penthouses, and residences. It offers expanded amenities including seven distinct culinary experiences, 12 bars and lounges, five heated pools, and an expanded Ocean Wellness program. Notable onboard additions include the first Chopard boutique and new dining concepts such as The Cellar, The Chef’s Table, and Shore Club. The ship’s design emphasizes high space-to-passenger ratios, natural lighting, and panoramic ocean views.
