Explorer Pipeline facility fire in Glenpool, Oklahoma

A lightning strike triggered a series of explosions and a major fire at the Explorer Pipeline facility in Glenpool, Oklahoma. The incident began around 8:30 a.m. when lightning struck a tank, causing two tanks to explode and a third to catch fire.

Emergency responders, including approximately 50 personnel from various local and regional fire departments, have been working to contain the blaze. While firefighters successfully used foam to extinguish a smoldering tank and a third tank, at least one tank remained actively on fire during the response efforts. Crews also focused on cooling surrounding tanks to prevent further spread.

Local authorities closed several streets, including West 126th Street, and implemented shelter-in-place orders for nearby schools. No injuries have been reported. The Glenpool facility is a significant hub for the Explorer Pipeline system, which transports large quantities of petroleum products across the United States.
