Explosion in Monteagudo al 100 building forces evacuations in San Miguel de Tucumán
An explosion struck the third‑floor apartment of the Monteagudo al 100 building in San Miguel de Tucumán on Monday evening, around 18:00. The blast, attributed to a suspected gas leak, caused a wall to collapse, damaged adjacent units and ruptured a water pipe.
One resident, 43‑year‑old Jonathan Stisman, suffered severe burns covering more than 80 % of his body and remains hospitalized with a reserved prognosis. Three other occupants, including two minors, were treated for carbon‑monoxide inhalation. Over 60 residents were evacuated from the building, which has been left without electricity or gas.
