Explosions reported at businesses and residences in Almere and Almelo

An explosion occurred at The Boxx, a coffeeshop in Almere Buiten, during the early hours of a Monday. The establishment had been open for only two weeks and is located less than 50 meters from a daycare center. While no injuries were reported, the incident caused damage to the building and sparked significant concern among local residents. The homeowners' association, Vereniging van Eigenaren Equator, stated that safety concerns regarding the location had been repeatedly raised with the municipality prior to the opening. In response to the incident, the coffeeshop has implemented 24/7 security.

In a separate incident in Almelo, a family's home was targeted by an explosive device attached to a living room window. This marks the second time in two days that the residence has been targeted, following a previous explosive device placed at the front door. Police are investigating the motive, noting the possibility of a business conflict. Surveillance footage shows a slim man placing the device before fleeing in a black vehicle, possibly an Opel Agila, which was noted for making a distinctive rattling sound.
