Explosive Device Incidents in Argentina and Mexico Injure Children and Prompt Police Operations

Police in Resistencia, Argentina, discovered a hand‑grenade‑type explosive in the San Cayetano neighbourhood early Thursday. Officers from the local precinct, the police bomb squad and fire department secured the area, collected evidence and began an investigation to determine how the device arrived there.

In Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico, an unknown explosive detonated on a street in the El Paraíso colony on Thursday night, injuring two children aged five and six. One child was critically injured while the other sustained less severe wounds. Local authorities opened a case to identify the nature of the device, with forensic teams examining the scene. Both incidents remain under investigation.

The two events underscore ongoing concerns about unsecured explosives in public areas across the region.
