Explosives discovered on Pan-American Highway in Cauca, Colombia

The Colombian Army's 29th Brigade discovered explosive devices hidden under a sewer grate along the Pan-American Highway in the Cauca department. The devices were located in a transit corridor between the Piedra Sentada district and the El Bordo toll booth.

Preliminary information suggests the explosives may belong to the Carlos Patiño structure of the FARC dissidents, operating under the command of Néstor Gregorio Verá, also known as alias ‘Iván Mordisco’.

Authorities have closed the highway to all traffic to allow specialized detection and elimination teams to neutralize the devices and prevent potential casualties among civilians, travelers, and troops. As of the latest reports, the road remains closed while technical procedures are carried out.
