Explosives-laden vehicle detonates near military battalion in Cauca

An explosive-laden vehicle was abandoned in front of the Batallón de Montaña N. ° 8 of the National Army in the El Porvenir neighborhood of Miranda, Cauca. Of the eight explosive devices contained within the vehicle, two detonated outside the military installations.

No injuries or damage to the military facility were reported, but authorities noted that the incident put more than 300 residents and passersby at risk. Preliminary information attributes the attack to the Dagoberto Ramos Structure, a dissident faction of the FARC operating under the command of alias Iván Mordisco.

Following the explosions, military troops deployed an anti-explosives team to deactivate the remaining devices. The Army has condemned the use of explosives and called on human rights organizations to address actions that directly expose civilian populations to danger.
