Expo Acero Santiago 2026: Xervin Equipos donates AR welding simulator to INFOTEP
During the fourth edition of Expo Acero Santiago 2026, held from September 18 to 20, Xervin Equipos donated an AugmentedArc® welding simulator to the National Institute of Technical Professional Training (INFOTEP). The technology, developed by Miller Electric Co., uses augmented reality to allow students and professionals to practice welding techniques in a controlled, safe environment before using real equipment.
The donation was facilitated through the Dominican Institute for Construction in Metallic Structures (IDCEM). The simulator supports various processes, including MIG, TIG, FCAW, and SMAW, and can be used with carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. This initiative aims to reduce material consumption during training and provide precise performance feedback on variables such as welding angle and speed.
Expo Acero Santiago featured over 100 national and international brands and seven universities. Founder Francisco Javier Durán noted that public investment in the Santiago province has exceeded RD$110,000 million over the last five years, driving infrastructure development and the need for highly skilled technical personnel.
