EXPO REAL 2026 focuses on digital transformation and infrastructure

The EXPO REAL 2026 trade fair in Munich, held from October 5 to 7, focused on the real estate market's transition toward digital transformation and integrated infrastructure. The event drew over 42,000 participants and 1,777 exhibitors from dozens of countries.

Key themes included the increasing importance of digital data for the planning, management, and maintenance of properties. While investors are increasingly reviewing projects, the industry faces challenges such as high construction costs, difficult financing conditions, and regulatory requirements. Technological solutions involving artificial intelligence, decarbonization, and energy supply were central to the discussions.

A new focus, ‘InfrastructureNow’, highlighted the convergence of real estate and infrastructure, covering energy grids, data centers, and social infrastructure. Additionally, regional entities like the Ruhrgebiet maintained a significant presence with the largest collective stand at the fair, showcasing urban development projects and industrial site reuses. Local municipalities, such as Dorsten, also utilized the platform to promote commercial spaces and business investment opportunities.
