Expocruz 2026 Dairy Competition sets participation record

The Expocruz 2026 Dairy Competition has officially commenced in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, setting a new record for participation in the fair's history. A total of 28 animals are competing for the title of Grand Champion, consisting of 18 Girolando cattle and 10 Gyr cattle.

Dr. Martha Rea, technical sub-coordinator of ASOCEBU, noted that the high number of entries underscores the growing importance of the dairy sector within the livestock component of the international fair. Before the milking process began, participants underwent functional udder assessments conducted by three ASOCEBU-accredited judges.

The competition follows a rigorous evaluation system involving three milkings per day at eight-hour intervals (06:00, 14:00, and 22:00). The results will be officially announced on Tuesday afternoon following the tenth milking.
