ExpoGenética begins auction season in Uberaba
The 19th ExpoGenética auction season has commenced in Uberaba, Minas Gerais. The commercial agenda features 32 auctions and seven animal showcases running until August 23. While the official fair opens on August 15 at Parque Fernando Costa, the first auction began on Monday in a virtual format.
Items for sale include bulls, cows, embryos, semen doses, and high-value genetic participations. This year's expanded schedule follows a significant increase in business volume in 2025, where the event recorded R$ 128.57 million in transactions—a 41.9% increase over the R$ 90.61 million recorded in 2024.
The event focuses on evaluated Zebu breeds, such as Nelore, Brahman, Gir, Guzerá, and Tabapuã. A major technical highlight this year is the introduction of genomic evaluation for the Brahman breed. This technology uses DNA analysis to estimate traits like weight gain, fertility, and feed efficiency in young animals, allowing breeders to predict performance earlier than traditional methods.
