Expointer 2026 sees record animal registrations and growth in rustic breeds

The Expointer 2026 agricultural exhibition in Esteio has recorded 7,926 animal registrations, marking a 12% increase and the highest volume of entries since 2012. A notable trend is the significant growth in rustic animal categories, which saw a 36% increase compared to the previous year. Specifically, rustic cattle registrations rose by 54%, reaching 408 specimens.

Within the cattle segment, the Brangus breed is set to have a historic presence with 195 animals registered, making it the breed with the highest number of specimens in the ring pavilion. The breed's popularity is attributed to its resistance to parasites and adaptation to high temperatures and climate instability. João Paulo Schneider da Silva, president of the Brazilian Brangus Association, noted that a rising market cycle for high-quality meat and calves provides a positive outlook for the breed's expansion.
