Expointer 2026 shows mixed results for machinery and livestock

Expointer 2026, held in Esteio, Rio Grande do Sul, showed divergent economic results across different agricultural sectors.

In the machinery sector, the Brazilian Association of the Machinery and Equipment Industry (Abimaq) reported a 25% decline in purchase intentions among its associated companies compared to the previous year, citing a slower business rhythm. However, the event's organizer, Simers, reported a different figure, stating that prospective business volume reached R$ 5.461 billion, a 45% increase over Expointer 2025. This discrepancy is attributed to differing methodologies: Abimaq surveyed its specific members, while Simers counted all prospective business transactions during the fair.

In the livestock sector, sales of Crioulo horses grew by 17.16%, reaching R$ 17 million. This breed accounted for 77.34% of the total R$ 21.98 million generated in animal sales at the event. Despite credit restrictions and climate challenges, the high demand for quality genetics drove these results, according to the Rural Auctioneers and Rural Auction Companies Union of Rio Grande do Sul (Sindiler).
