Extragalactic to compete in McEwen Stakes at Flemington

Trainer Trent Edmonds will prepare his star mare, Extragalactic, for the $300,000 Group 2 McEwen Stakes at Flemington this Saturday. The race is being held at Flemington as the Moonee Valley Racing Club conducts its first Cox Plate meeting away from its traditional home due to track reconfiguration.

Extragalactic, a four-year-old from Edmonds’ Pakenham stable, enters the 1200-metre race in strong form, following a second-place finish in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes at Caulfield. Edmonds noted that the move to Flemington provides a beneficial opportunity for the mare to experience the straight track, serving as a potential audition for major autumn races such as the Champions Sprint, the Lightning, or the Newmarket.

This marks the mare's third run of the current campaign. Her previous starts included a fourth-place finish in the Group 1 Moir Stakes at Sandown and a ninth-place finish in the Listed Crockett Stakes at Moonee Valley last year.
