Extremadura Assembly extends street vendor licenses up to 30 years

The Assembly of Extremadura has approved a decree-law aimed at providing greater stability to street vendors in the region. The new regulation extends the duration of municipal authorizations from seven to 15 years, with the possibility of a single extension for an identical period, allowing licenses to last up to 30 years.

The reform also facilitates generational succession by allowing licenses to be transferred to relatives up to the third degree of consanguinity or affinity, provided they maintain the same type of products. Local municipalities will have one year to adapt their ordinances to this new framework, though the changes apply automatically to currently active authorizations.

Additionally, the decree modifies the electoral regime for the chambers of commerce in Cáceres and Badajoz. The reform was supported by the PP, PSOE, and Vox parties, with abstention from Unidas por Extremadura.
