Extremadura companies face labor shortages in key sectors

Companies in the Spanish region of Extremadura are experiencing significant difficulties recruiting workers across several sectors, according to recent provincial labor market reports from the State Public Employment Service (SEPE).

In Badajoz, the shortages are primarily concentrated in construction trades and healthcare or caregiving professions. In Cáceres, the demand is more prominent in industrial and technological roles. Despite these regional differences, electricians are identified as a difficult profile to fill in both provinces.

Other hard-to-fill positions include masons, carpenters, and construction laborers in Badajoz, as well as family doctors and home care workers. In Cáceres, the shortages extend to electronic equipment assemblers, database and network specialists, and technology instructors. Reported causes for these gaps include a scarcity of candidates, lack of experience, and, in certain instances, the specific working conditions offered.
