Extremadura doubles AI subsidies for SMEs to 4 million euros

The regional government of Extremadura has doubled its budget for artificial intelligence subsidies for SMEs and self-employed workers, increasing the total from 2 million to 4 million euros. This decision follows a high demand, with over 500 applications submitted in a single day.

The subsidy covers up to 85% of the investment, with a maximum of 100,000 euros per beneficiary. Eligible projects include consultancy, training, software development, implementation, licenses, subscriptions, and cloud services. The funds are intended to help businesses automate repetitive tasks, anticipate demand, improve customer service, and strengthen cybersecurity.

This budget increase does not open a new application period; it only applies to existing applications that met the requirements before the deadline. The funding is distributed across the 2026 and 2027 fiscal years. Payments are structured in two stages: 60% upon granting the aid and the remaining 40% after the investment is justified.
