Extremadura implements security measures following healthcare worker assaults

Following 124 officially recorded assaults on healthcare professionals across Extremadura in 2026, authorities have announced immediate safety measures for the Talayuela Health Center. As a temporary solution while security personnel recruitment is processed, the center will be assigned an orderly (celador) to increase presence and provide accompaniment for staff.

Encarna Solís, manager of the Extremadura Health Service (SES), reaffirmed a policy of ‘zero tolerance’ regarding violence against medical workers. The decision follows a meeting between the Navalmoral de la Mata Health Area management, the Civil Guard, and the Local Police to address the rising number of incidents in the region.
