Extremadura Orchestra faces labor tension amid union warnings
The CCOO union has reported a ‘very tense’ working environment within the Extremadura Orchestra Foundation (OEx). The union claims it has been aware of the situation for several months and has requested intervention from the Junta de Extremadura to resolve the issues and restore a positive workplace climate.
The Regional Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Sports has acknowledged the existence of ‘discrepancies with some people in the organization,’ but maintains that these are specific instances rather than widespread problems affecting the entire staff of 63 employees. Officials state that the foundation’s artistic, administrative, and economic activities are continuing normally, with scheduled concerts and projects proceeding as planned.
While the union has not explicitly demanded the removal of manager Hae Won Oh, who took the role in January 2024, it has criticized the lack of dialogue with management and urged the regional administration to take necessary actions to address the internal climate.
