Extremadura to host Gastromestiza 2026 culinary exchange
The region of Extremadura will host ‘Gastromestiza 2026’, a pioneering gastronomic encounter between the Spanish region and Hispanoamérica. Scheduled for September 30, October 1, and October 2, 2026, the event will take place at the Escuela Superior de Hostelería y Agroturismo de Extremadura (ESHAEX) in Mérida.
Part of the ‘Extremestiza’ strategy, the event aims to bring together culinary professionals, specialists, and producers from Extremadura and Spanish-speaking countries, including Peru, Mexico, Ecuador, and Bolivia. The initiative seeks to promote professional exchange, culinary innovation, and the international projection of Extremadura through shared food culture.
The program will focus on shared flavors, ingredients, and techniques that have historically crossed the Atlantic. Through workshops, gastronomic laboratories, and debates, the event intends to address future challenges in the agri-food sector and strengthen commercial and cultural ties by recognizing mestizo recipes as avant-garde heritage.
