Extremadura towns of Casas de Millán and Mirabel restore water supply after forest fire

A forest fire declared on Saturday near the Puerto de los Castaños in Extremadura caused water‑supply problems in the municipalities of Casas de Millán and Mirabel. The fire led to low pressure and temporary outages, especially in higher‑lying areas, as fire‑fighting trucks used large volumes of water.

The provincial Diputación de Cáceres, through the Consorcio MásMedio, deployed water tankers – a 25,000‑litre cistern in Mirabel and an 11,000‑litre unit in Casas de Millán – to maintain supply while repairs were carried out. By Monday the water service was fully restored, though the tankers will remain on standby as a precaution.

Provincial president Miguel Ángel Morales visited the affected zones with the mayors of Mirabel, Fernando Grande Cano, and Casas de Millán, Mario Cerro, to assess damage and discuss further assistance. Photo coverage the following day showed the towns returning to normal.
