Extremadura unions demand pension protections and elderly rights
Labor unions UGT and CCOO have presented a joint manifesto in the Extremadura Assembly to demand improved social protection and dignity for the elderly. The document calls for a comprehensive law on the rights of older persons and a social pact for dignified aging.
Key demands include maintaining the annual pension revaluation linked to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and ensuring the viability of the public pension system through social dialogue. The unions also requested a reduction in penalties for early retirement, specifically addressing inequalities between men and women and those with long contribution histories.
