Extreme Heat Advisory Targets Disney World and Central Florida Parks

The National Weather Service office in Melbourne, Florida, issued an Extreme Heat Advisory for Orange, Lake, Seminole, Volusia and northern Brevard counties on July 29, covering the Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort areas. The advisory runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., with temperatures expected in the low‑to‑mid 90s °F and a heat index projected between 105 °F and 110 °F, posing a risk of heat‑related illness.

All Disney World destinations—including Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon—as well as on‑site hotels are included, along with Universal’s three theme parks, Volcano Bay water park and associated hotels. Visitors are advised to stay hydrated, reapply sunscreen, wear lightweight loose‑fitting clothing and limit time in direct sun, or remain indoors when possible. The service notes that cooler temperatures and scattered showers, with a chance of strong storms, are expected to begin on Thursday.
