Extreme Heat Warning issued for lower desert following muggy Labor Day

Labor Day weather in the lower desert will be characterized by high humidity and tropical moisture, leading to muggy conditions and a chance for scattered light rain or isolated thunderstorms through Monday afternoon.

A significant warming trend is expected to begin Tuesday, with temperatures climbing 5 to 10 degrees above normal. The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning effective from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday through 8:00 p.m. Friday, as the region faces widespread moderate to locally major HeatRisk. While high pressure will limit storm chances later in the week, heat and humidity are expected to persist until a potential cooldown arrives this weekend.
