Extreme ultratrail challenges announced in Italy

Ultramarathon runner Roberto Crippa has announced a new extreme sporting challenge titled ‘Route 60 South’. Starting from Canottieri Lecco on September 15, the 400-kilometer ultratrail aims to reach Siena. The route will traverse three regions and ten provinces, crossing the Po Valley and the Apennines to break Crippa’s previous personal distance record.

In separate trail running news, the inaugural Ortles Haute Route Trail in Stelvio National Park has concluded. Argentine runner Sergio Gustavo Pereyra won the premier 120 km race with a time of 17:19:10, while Guendalina Sibona secured the women’s victory in Bormio with a time of 24:29:08. The event drew over 550 competitors from 18 different nations.
