Extreme weather Boelo causes widespread damage in Norway

Extreme weather conditions caused by storm Boelo have led to a surge in insurance claims across southern Norway. The insurance company If reported receiving approximately 130 damage reports by Monday morning, primarily involving water damage, fallen trees, and objects being moved by high winds.

Fremtind insurance also reported receiving numerous claims, including leaking roofs and flooded basements. Damage has affected homes, vehicles, and maritime infrastructure such as boats and piers.

Authorities and insurance representatives have issued warnings regarding high water levels, with orange alerts in Rogaland and yellow alerts in Hordaland and parts of Agder. Residents are advised to clear drains and gutters, secure loose outdoor items, and prioritize personal safety over property protection.
