Extreme weather forecast predicts heavy snow and temperature drops in Central Europe

Meteorological models suggest a potential extreme winter shift in Central Europe starting around November 10. One weather model indicates that parts of western Austria could experience up to 50 centimeters of fresh snow and temperatures dropping to minus 15 degrees Celsius.

This potential shift depends on atmospheric changes, specifically the stability of the polar vortex. If the vortex weakens or splits, extremely cold continental air masses could move into Central Europe, potentially causing temperature drops of 15 to 20 degrees. While some models predict this extreme scenario, others suggest milder conditions for the same period.

In Hungary, current forecasts from HungaroMet indicate increasingly sunny and dry weather, though morning frosts are expected to strengthen. Meteorologists note that the presence of Mediterranean cyclones will be crucial in determining whether precipitation arrives as rain or snow during the winter months.
