ExxonMobil awards US$1.1 billion in contracts for Mozambique's Rovuma LNG

ExxonMobil has awarded approximately US$1.1 billion in pre-investment contracts for the Rovuma LNG Phase 1 project in Mozambique. These contracts focus on long-lead upstream equipment and early site construction activities, including subsea production systems, large-bore production valves, and offshore line pipe.

OneSubsea secured the largest contract package, supported by local engineering and manufacturing from Aker Solutions Mozambique. Other suppliers involved in the procurement include Advanced Technology Valve, Corinth Pipeworks, Sumitomo Corporation of America, and Zhejiang Jiuli Hi-Tech Metals.

The project, located in Cabo Delgado province, is expected to have an onshore plant capacity of 18.6 million tonnes of LNG annually. While the total capital cost is estimated at roughly US$30 billion, a final investment decision (FID) is not expected until 2026. The development is led by ExxonMobil on behalf of the Area 4 co-venturers, which include ENH, CNPC, Eni, KOGAS, and ADNOC's international investment arm, XRG.
