ExxonMobil nears seismic results in Trinidad and Tobago as Shell halts gas project

ExxonMobil is nearing the conclusion of a major 3D seismic survey in Trinidad and Tobago’s ultra-deep water Block TTUD-1. Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar stated that results from the 6,000 square kilometer survey are expected by the end of August. ExxonMobil holds a 90% interest in the block, with Anadarko Caribbean holding the remaining 10%.

In a separate development, Shell has halted its Aphrodite offshore gas project in the country. The decision follows failed negotiations with the National Gas Company regarding commercial terms for the sale of the project’s expected 100 million cubic feet of natural gas per day. Shell has released the jack-up rig previously contracted for the project and is evaluating its integrated project schedule.
