ExxonMobil reports $14.5 billion Q2 profit and forecasts refining margin growth
ExxonMobil reported a GAAP net income of $14.50 billion for the second quarter of 2026, with an adjusted result of $14.70 billion. During this period, cash flow from operating activities reached $23.6 billion, while investments totaled $6.8 billion. The company’s Permian Basin production exceeded 1.8 million oil equivalent barrels per day.
Looking ahead to the third quarter, the company anticipates a $4.5 billion increase in its Energy Products segment, which includes refining, driven by global refining capacity shortages linked to conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. This growth is expected to be partially offset by a $1.3 billion loss due to lower oil prices and a $600 million decrease in the Chemicals segment. Additionally, the company expects a $300 million gain from natural gas prices and a $700 million gain from divestments or activity cessations, though calendar effects are projected to weigh down results by $2.5 billion.
ExxonMobil is scheduled to release its third-quarter 2026 results before the market opens on October 30, 2026.
