Eye dryness in the evening may be caused by more than screen time

Evening eye dryness and irritation are not always caused solely by screen time. While looking at digital devices can reduce blink rates and disrupt the tear film, other environmental factors play a significant role.

Common causes of eye discomfort in the evening include accumulated daily fatigue and indoor air conditions. Heating systems in the winter and air conditioning in the summer can significantly dry out the air, leading to sensations of sandiness, burning, or redness. If eye irritation persists even without significant screen use, or occurs immediately upon returning to a climate-controlled home, environmental factors should be considered.
