EyeROV and underwater robotics drive offshore inspection market growth
The global market for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) used for offshore inspection, repair, and maintenance (IRM) is projected to grow from USD 7.39 billion in 2026 to USD 13.50 billion by 2034. This growth is driven by the need to inspect subsea infrastructure, such as pipelines, cables, and offshore platforms, in demanding marine environments.
In India, the startup EyeROV is expanding its reach with dual-use ROV technology. Supported by a Rs 47-crore Indian Navy contract and additional funding, the company’s TROUT vehicle is designed for deep-water inspections, hull testing, and maritime research. The technology is used to examine undersea communication cables, ports, and offshore energy installations for corrosion, leaks, and structural faults.
EyeROV has completed over 150 projects for clients including ONGC, BPCL, and Maersk. The company aims to leverage BRICS networks to scale its Indian-developed technology stack globally, targeting both commercial and defense markets.
