ČEZ Distribuce renews power cables at Sněžka summit

ČEZ Distribuce is undertaking a renewal of high-voltage and low-voltage cable lines near the summit of Sněžka in the Krkonoše Mountains. The project, costing approximately 1 million CZK, involves replacing about 96 meters of high-voltage lines and 96 meters of low-voltage lines between the Sněžka transformer station, the Poštovna, and the Czech-Polish border.

Due to the extreme weather and rocky terrain at the summit, the new infrastructure is designed to withstand harsh mountain conditions and ensure long-term electricity supply reliability. The project also serves to clarify property rights regarding the cable route between ČEZ Distribuce and the Polish distributor, Tauron Dystrybucja.

To minimize environmental impact, the energy works are being coordinated with the Krkonoše Mountains National Park (KRNAP) administration, coinciding with repairs to tourist paths and staircases in the area. Once completed, the sites will be restored according to nature conservation requirements.
