Ezeiza International Airport restricts operations for 18 days
Ezeiza International Airport in Argentina has entered an 18-day period of restricted operations, running from October 25 to November 11, due to infrastructure modernization works. The project, part of a $110 million investment plan by Aeropuertos Argentina, involves rehabilitating the secondary runway and its intersection with the main runway.
During this period, the terminal will operate with a single runway measuring only 1,850 meters, significantly shorter than the standard 3,300 meters. This reduction impacts wide-body aircraft, such as the Boeing 777, 787, and Airbus A330, which may be unable to take off with full fuel loads for long-haul destinations.
As a result, 14 international airlines, including American Airlines, Delta, United Airlines, Air France, British Airways, Lufthansa, KLM, Emirates, and Air Canada, have suspended operations or rescheduled flights. Other carriers are implementing technical stops to refuel. For example, Aerolíneas Argentinas will stop in Rio de Janeiro for flights to Madrid and Rome, while Air Europa and Iberia will utilize Montevideo for refueling stops.
