Ezequiel Montes police under scrutiny following death of detainee

Family members of Isaac “N” are demanding justice following his death after being detained by the Municipal Police of Ezequiel Montes on August 26. The family alleges that the young man was repeatedly beaten by officers during his arrest, leading to his death.

During a funeral procession, relatives marched in front of the Ezequiel Montes Municipal Presidency to demand an explanation from Mayor Iván Reséndiz Ramírez.

The Municipal Public Security Secretariat stated that officers responded to a 911 report regarding an individual allegedly disturbing public order. According to the department, Civil Protection was requested to evaluate the detainee, who was subsequently transferred to the General Hospital of Cadereyta, where death was confirmed.

Police officials maintain they followed all protocols and have provided video recordings of the incident to the Querétaro State Attorney General's Office (FGE). The FGE is currently conducting an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the death.
