Ezequiel Montes suspends Peña de Bernal access fees

The municipal government of Ezequiel Montes has announced the suspension of access fees for the Peña de Bernal monolith, effective August 14, 2026. This decision is part of the preparatory phase for an integral rehabilitation and conservation project aimed at improving the site's environment and tourism infrastructure.

The project is currently in a technical and regulatory stage, which includes developing an executive project, conducting environmental impact assessments, and managing permits with the Secretariat of Sustainable Development and the National Institute of Anthropology and History. An initial investment of between 3 and 4 million pesos is estimated for this first stage.

Physical interventions are projected to begin during the first quarter of 2027. Authorities clarified that the suspension of fees is intended to facilitate logistics and visitor flow during the planning phase, as there will be no direct reciprocity between services and costs during this period. The measure does not change access hours or existing civil protection and security protocols.
