F-16 fighter jets compared to Russian Su-35 and Su-57 aircraft

Reports analyze the technical capabilities and combat effectiveness of Ukrainian F-16 Fighting Falcon jets compared to Russian Sukhoi fighter aircraft. While the F-16 has demonstrated success in the field, such as reportedly downing a Su-35, technical comparisons highlight significant differences in platform specifications.

Ukraine is utilizing older F-16 AM/BM Mid-Life Update models rather than the newest F-16V Block 70/72. In contrast, Russian forces employ the Su-35 and the advanced Su-57 stealth fighter. The Su-57 holds a technological advantage due to its stealth characteristics, which allow it to detect targets on radar more effectively than the F-16. This capability enables the use of R-77 missiles before the F-16 can deploy AIM-120 missiles.

While the F-16 remains a capable platform, the Su-57 offers superior aerodynamics, maneuverability, and sensor complexity. In close-quarters combat, the chances of success are considered more balanced, but the Russian aircraft's ability to detect and engage targets first remains a critical factor in aerial warfare.
