F-35 fighter jet parts diverted to Hong Kong and reportedly held by China
Critical components of an F-35 fighter jet, including a cockpit canopy and a weapons bay door, were reportedly diverted to Hong Kong instead of the United States. The parts, which were being shipped from Australia for inspection and repair, are believed to be in the possession of Chinese authorities.
The components are coated with radar-absorbent material designed to enhance the aircraft's stealth capabilities. While the full extent of the technological risk is debated, officials noted that the parts contain sensitive materials that could assist in analyzing stealth technology.
