The Hockenheimring has opened initial discussions with Formula 1 about bringing back a German Grand Prix. The circuit is currently undergoing a €250 million redevelopment programme that will add a hotel and a Motorworld visitor centre, with completion targeted for 2030. Managing director Jorn Teske said there is interest but no concrete results can be reported yet.

The last German Grand Prix at Hockenheim was held in 2019, and the most recent Formula 1 race in Germany was the 2020 Eifel Grand Prix at the Nürburgring. Audi has joined the F1 grid and the FIA confirmed a German Formula 4 championship will return in 2027. Multiple German broadcasters are expected to bid for F1 TV rights when the current exclusive deal expires after 2027.
