FA Cup second qualifying round approaches for non-league clubs
The FA Cup second qualifying round features 48 clubs from the National League North and South. Notable matchups include a first-time competitive meeting between Southport FC and Morecambe FC, while Weston-super-Mare faces Wimborne Town for the sixth time.
Several clubs, including Chesham United, Workington AFC, Halesowen Town, and Cambridge City, are participating in the competition for the 100th time. For some teams, such as Mulbarton Wanderers, Barton Town, Boldmere St Michaels, Harleston Town, and Real Bedford, advancing through this stage would represent a record-breaking cup run.
For Step 5 clubs, the FA Cup offers significant financial incentives compared to the FA Vase. While the FA Vase provides a realistic path to a Wembley final, the FA Cup offers larger prize pools, such as £3,375 for winning in the second qualifying round, with the potential to reach much higher payouts in later rounds. Five clubs, including AFC Greenwich Borough, SE Dons, Snodland Town, Pagham, and Cirencester Town, are currently competing in both the FA Cup and the FA Vase.
