FAA extends flight restrictions over parts of Haiti until 2027

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has extended flight restrictions over parts of Haiti due to ongoing security risks. The new Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM), effective from September 1, 2026, is scheduled to remain in place until March 2, 2027.

The restrictions specifically target U.S. air carriers, commercial operators, and pilots holding FAA certificates, as well as operators of U.S.-registered civil aircraft. These entities are prohibited from conducting operations at altitudes between the surface and 9,999 feet MSL within designated geographic zones.

The affected areas include regions south of 19°10’00″N and north of 18°20’00″N, situated between the Dominican Republic border and 73°00’00″W, along with a 17-nautical-mile radius around the coordinates 19°10’00″N, 72°31’00″W. The FAA clarified that this is not a general closure of Haitian airspace; flights above 10,000 feet MSL and operations outside the specified zones are not subject to these restrictions.
