FAAN denies imposing N30,000 taxi fares at Lagos airport

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has clarified that it did not introduce or impose the controversial N30,000 taxi fare reported at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. The authority stated that these rates predated its Airport Car Hire Rank Management System (ACHRAMS) and were not substantially different from previous rates.

FAAN explained that ACHRAMS was designed to provide transparency and visibility for existing airport taxi rates rather than to regulate or set them. The clarification follows public outcry after social media reports highlighted significant price discrepancies between airport taxi quotes and cheaper e-hailing services like Uber and Bolt.

In response to the concerns, FAAN has cleared Bolt to resume operations at the airport.
