Faber Lotto announces mass layoffs of 120 employees
The German lottery intermediary Faber is undergoing significant restructuring, resulting in the layoff of 120 employees. This reduction represents approximately one-third of the company’s total workforce of 315. The cuts specifically impact the call centers, which will lose 71 positions, and the administration department, which will see 41 to 49 roles eliminated.
Founder Norman Faber expressed sadness regarding the necessity of dismissing long-term, experienced staff. The company attributed the crisis to a decline in written business, rising advertising and shipping costs, and changes in gambling regulations affecting telephone sales. While facing these challenges, the company noted that the growing digital lottery market presents new opportunities.
Founded in 1970, Faber operates as a virtual betting community, organizing systematic participation in lotteries such as Eurojackpot and Lotto 6aus49.
