FABI Reggio Calabria elects new leadership amid banking sector shifts
The Autonomous Federation of Italian Bankers (FABI) held its 15th provincial congress in Reggio Calabria, resulting in the election of a new leadership structure. Santo Catalano has been appointed as the Coordinating Secretary, supported by Paolo Ginestra as the Organizational and Administrative Secretary, alongside Antonio Pugliesi, Caterina Serra, and Michele Surace.
The congress addressed the evolving landscape of the banking sector, specifically focusing on the reduction of physical bank branches and the impact of artificial intelligence on employment. The union aims to map potential occupational risks associated with AI integration in banking processes.
Data cited during the event highlighted a significant contraction of physical banking presence in the province of Reggio Calabria, noting that the number of bank branches fell from 92 in 2020 to 7.
