Fabian Reese apologises for leaving Hertha BSC for VfL Wolfsburg

German forward Fabian Reese, 28, issued a public apology after his move from Hertha BSC to VfL Wolfsburg sparked criticism among Hertha supporters. In an interview with the Süddeutsche Zeitung, Reese said he understood fans' disappointment and expressed regret, stating, "If anyone lost faith in football romance because of my transfer, I am truly sorry."

Reese had extended his contract with Hertha in the summer of 2025 to run until 2030, but after the club missed promotion he departed a year later, signing a new deal with Wolfsburg also lasting until 2030. He explained that his primary goal is to play in the Bundesliga, which he believes Wolfsburg can best provide, and he remains fond of his time in Berlin, calling it "the best chapter of my life."
