Fabian Ruiz eyes 2026 Ballon d'Or after major title wins

Spain midfielder Fabian Ruiz, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain, has expressed his ambition to win the 2026 Ballon d'Or following a highly successful season. Ruiz has achieved significant success both at the club and international levels, including winning the UEFA Champions League with PSG and the FIFA World Cup with the Spanish national team.

Former French international Vicente Lizarraga has identified Ruiz as a top three candidate for the award. While noting that Ruiz may not possess the flashy style of players like Kylian Mbappé or Lamine Yamal, Lizarraga emphasized that his consistency and the major titles he has secured deserve recognition, comparing his potential candidacy to that of Rodri.

Ruiz himself shared his aspirations in an interview with the program ‘Téléfoot’, stating that while he does not typically seek the spotlight, he feels it is appropriate to dream of the prestigious trophy given his recent achievements and hard work. The 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony is scheduled to take place in London on October 26.
