Fabiana Ribeiro Guimarães resigns from SLU position following controversial posts
Fabiana Ribeiro Guimarães, the former Director of Technology and Innovation for the Urban Cleaning Service (SLU) in the Distrito Federal, has resigned from her commissioned position. Her resignation follows intense public backlash regarding social media posts targeting supporters of the Workers' Party (PT) and beneficiaries of the Bolsa Família social program.
Guimarães's posts included mocking those receiving government assistance and expressing a refusal to engage with individuals aligned with the political left. Additionally, she shared an AI-generated image depicting herself holding a sign that read, “I hate being Bahian,” which drew accusations of xenophobia against people from the state of Bahia.
The SLU stated that her comments do not reflect the institutional values of the agency or the Government of the Distrito Federal. While the agency had initiated an internal audit, Guimarães resigned before a final decision was reached. The Public Ministry of the Federal District and Territories (MPDFT) has also referred the matter to the Prosecutor's Office for urgent evaluation.
