Fabiano Horta and Tuninho da Padaria Launch Pre‑Campaigns in Rio

Former Maricá mayor Fabiano Horta (PT) gathered hundreds of supporters in the Parque Eldorado neighbourhood of Maricá to announce his pre‑candidacy for the Chamber of Deputies. He said the experience of governing Maricá, including the zero‑fare fund, the university passport, the Mumbuca social currency and the fight against 6×1 work schedules, could be turned into national policies. Local officials such as councilor Fabricinho, councilwoman Rita Rocha and vice‑mayor Joãozinho attended and praised Horta’s record.

In Nova Iguaçu, baker‑turned‑politician Tuninho da Padaria launched his pre‑campaign for a state deputy seat. The event attracted a large crowd despite recent strong winds that damaged the city. Federal deputy Lindbergh Farias, PT leader Anderson Batata and other regional figures endorsed Tuninho, emphasizing development projects for the Baixada Fluminense. Both gatherings mark the start of mobilization ahead of the 2026 elections in Rio de Janeiro.
